Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) — AirPods shipments were better than expected at about 27 million units in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Meanwhile, Tianfeng International revised upward AirPods shipments to 90 million units in 2022, significantly better than market expectations of 65-75 million units.
The new selling points include a new design, support for Apple Lossless (ALAC) format and a charging case that makes sounds so users can find them. 18-20 million AirPods will be shipped in 2022.
Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that AirPods may support health management features in the future, and believes this innovation will redefine TWS and create structural changes in market demand.
