Apple A16 chip exposure: 4nm process iPhone 14 first

At present, the industry chain spreads the news that TSMC has started to manufacture A16 processors for Apple, which has now been determined to use the 4nm process, with the first launch of the iPhone 14 series in September this year.

On its part, TSMC has raised the price of foundry due to certain cost increases and other reasons. As TSMC’s major customer, Apple had to accept the increased price offer. January 2022 consolidated revenue was NT$172.176 billion, up 10.8% sequentially and soaring 35.8% year-over-year, which is the best single-month performance in several years.

In addition, TSMC’s 3nm process was delayed and will only be ready for production in the second half of this year, so the more mature 4nm process was chosen for this year’s A16 chip.
